Starting to Get Some Wrinkles on Your Face? See a Dermatologist for These 2 Treatments

If you are starting to get facial wrinkles, this can be hard to deal with. Looking in the mirror for so long and seeing no wrinkles and then suddenly having them can make you feel much older than are. Fortunately, you can see a dermatologist for two treatments to help the wrinkles go away.

Botox Injections

Botox is injected into the wrinkled area, so the procedure does not take a long time. After the treatment, you must remain sitting or standing for a few hours. You should also not touch the area where you received the treatments for a few hours, and do not exercise for the rest of the day.

Botox works by freezing the underlying muscle tissue which causes the wrinkle to relax. The wrinkles may disappear completely, or they may become diminished enough so that they are not easily noticed.

One thing about Botox, however, is it will not last forever. It could last a few months or a couple of years. This will depend on your skin type, the number of wrinkles you have, how deep the wrinkles are, etc. Your dermatologist can tell you how long you can expect it to last. Once the Botox wears off you will start to see the wrinkles appear again a little at a time. You can return to the dermatologist to have the injections repeated to keep the wrinkles away.

Dermal Fillers

Another treatment the dermatologist may offer is dermal fillers. These fillers can be used to treat a variety of wrinkles, such as wrinkles on your forehead, between your eyebrows, and more. Dermal fillers are made of hyaluronic acid, which is a natural substance that is already found inside your body.

The dermal filler is injected into the wrinkled area. Once this happens, the filler fills in the wrinkle. You will generally start seeing results instantly after you receive the filler. The filler will settle over the next few hours, however, so the results will look even better. Dermal fillers can also be used to add volume to your lips and other areas of your face.

The dermal fillers may last a few years or only a few months depending on the type of wrinkles you have. Your dermatologist can give you information on how long you should expect your wrinkles to stay away. You can then return to the dermatologist's office to have the dermal filler treatment done again.

The dermatologist can tell you about other treatments they can offer, such as skin resurfacing, chemical peels, and microdermabrasion
